Plants
PlantsAlthough Arran is a small island .there is a vast amount of plant diversity to be found due the the different geological and land mass variation, from high mountains to rugged sea coast with raised sea beaches. The ground tends to be acidic in nature often with poor nutritional value. Contrasting with exposed granite are bog areas. Plant experts who reside on Arran with inform you of the changing nature of the plants, some in decline and some increasing in number but there is little by way of documentation in relation to plant species on the island. Arran is also home to its own unique species of whitebeam which lies in Glen Diomhan in the north west quarter of the island |
