RSPB Scotland is part of the RSPB, the UK wide organisation working to secure a healthy environment rich in birds and wildlife. As a charity, we depend on the generosity of others to make a difference.

We have over 70 nature reserves in Scotland, from Shetland to the Solway, with regional offices in Glasgow, Aberdeen and Inverness. We are proud to be a part of the Arran Wildlife Festival in 2006.

Please visit the RSPB today at www.rspb.org.uk, and help to make a real difference for Scottish wildlife.

Our basic philosophy at Scottish Natural Heritage is simple: we must care for and sustain our natural heritage if we want it to sustain us.

Our task is to secure the conservation and enhancement of Scotland's unique and precious natural heritage - the wildlife, the habitats and the landscapes which have evolved in Scotland through the long partnership between people and nature.

Our priorities for the next three years as documented in our Corporate Plan reflect both our intention to address all aspects of our wide remit and our wish to deliver it nationally and locally in an innovative manner and (as far as possible) integrating the constituent parts. These achievements and plans are summarised in our Annual Review publication.

We're proud to support the Arran hen harrier viewing project and be a part of the Arran Wildlife Festival 2006.

Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS) serves as the forestry department of the Scottish Executive, advising on and implementing forestry policy and managing the national forest estate.

Our mission is to protect and expand Scotland's forests and woodlands and increase their value to society and the environment.

We work with the Scottish Executive, particularly the Environment and Rural Affairs Department (SEERAD), to deliver the Scottish Forestry Strategy. We also contribute to many aspects of wider Scottish Executive policy such as energy, environment and climate change, biodiversity, healthy living, rural transport, tourism and education.

We have five conservancies which carry out our regulatory and grant support functions around Scotland.  They provide advice and information on forestry to woodland owners.

The National Trust for Scotland is the conservation charity that protects and promotes Scotland's natural and cultural heritage for present and future generations to enjoy.  With over 270,000 members it is the largest conservation charity in Scotland and it depends for its support on donations, legacies, grants and membership subscriptions.

Established in 1931, at the initiative of ruralScotland, the Trust acts as guardian of the nation's magnificent heritage of architectural, scenic and historic treasures. As an independent charity, not a government department, it acts on behalf of everyone to safeguard our heritage. Please support our work by visiting our properties, becoming a member, making a donation or arranging a legacy. By joining, you support the conservation of these fine parts of Scottish heritage and there is the additional benefit of free entry to all the properties.

The Community of Arran Seabed Trust is a voluntary not for profit community group which was set up in an attempt to redress the loss of marine life around the Island of Arran. It is composed mainly of islanders but has members from all over the world with a total membership of over 1,800.

COAST's aim is to establish a No-Take Zone (NTZ) on the north end of Lamlash Bay and establish a Marine Protected Area in the remaining area of the Bay. A NTZ is an area of sea and seabed from which no marine life can be removed by any fishing method, recreational or commercial.  This would allow the NTZ area to naturally regenerate which would be hugely beneficial to the marine biodiversity of the area and would help the surrounding areas by restocking commercial shell fisheries.

COAST has been at the forefront in Britain of community lead campaigns to protect the marine environment for future generations. If you would like to join the ever growing numbers of COAST members, it is free and open to all.
